PortMiami is the busiest cruise port in the world! Serving over 8 million passengers in 2024, it is home to most major cruise lines. Thankfully, cruise lines stagger their check-in times to keep the flow moving — but it’s still a bustling place.
Here’s how to make your embarkation day smooth and stress-free:
Complete all check-in steps and safety briefings on your cruise line’s app BEFORE embarkation! Many cruise lines open online check in as early as 45 days prior to departure! The earlier you check in, the better chance you will have of grabbing the earliest boarding times.
Have your boarding passes and ID (printed, digital, or ideally both) ready
Pack a carry-on bag with essentials (your main luggage may arrive later)
Wear sunscreen, even indoors and on cloudy days— it’s Miami, after all! 🌞

When it's time to leave the ship, resist the urge to call an Uber or Lyft immediately. Prices tend to spike as crowds pour out of the terminal. Instead:
